Burden and Trends of Leishmaniasis over the last one Decade Across the Globe: Trend Analysis of WHO Regions

Introduction: In terms of the global burden diseases, leishmaniasis is third most serious and often fatally untreated tropical disease. The number people suffering from estimated to be 12–15 million. Because comparatively underestimated reported cases, not seen as an immediate health issue in various regions by local international policymakers. Therefore, strong evidence required for policymakers make decisions. we aimed conduct secondary data analysis assess trends Leishmaniasis over last decade understand endemicity different across world. Methods: We undertook a retrospective study with WHO 2008 2018, publicly available, cutaneous visceral Leishmaniasis. around 194 countries were included these merged into based on classification. categorized all 94 such America, Europe, Africa, South-East Asia, Eastern Mediterranean, Western Pacific. Since limited frequency cases there no other variables, therefore, able do descriptive analysis. Results: Generally, has declined except Mediterranean region. A declining trend imported was found mainly 2015 2018. region, Europe have remained stable. However, after remaining stagnant about four years, South Asia showed steep decline. Of countries, 76.39% are considered endemic 44.3% Conclusion: Though decreased past decade, need efforts capture true effective surveillance system. There appears stable although it unclear whether that due regulation steps taken governments or being underreported. Governments therefore identify take control steps.
